There are some things in life that no one wants to experience.
Here at Camp Watson the wildlife is starting poke it's head out for summer. We've seen lots of rabbits and birds and squirrels. Josh is pretty sure he heard a deer in the trees the other night.
Two days ago we came home late and were getting ready to send Jonah to bed. The windows have been open because it's been hot and Josh thinks it's too early to turn the AC on yet, so I was closing the windows in Jonah's room. The windows in his room are really old and they crank open on the sides- which is really nice when there is a breeze.
But like I'd said, it was late and the windows had to close so we could get the Monkey to sleep. I went to crank one shut and instead I screamed. There on the window ledge was a huge black snake. It was looking at me. It took me a moment to realize that there was a screen between us, but in the few seconds in between I felt the blood drain out of my face and goosebumps covered my entire body.
Josh came running and Jonah and I ended up watching a pretty funny show. Josh went out to kill it (even though it was a Black Snake and they kill mice) but couldn't seem to get a good angle to do it. The snake was in the ground cover under the window, and then it climbed up the side of the house and hid on the roof under the eaves. Josh threw the rake at it, but it just curled up in a ball. Finally he got the hose and managed to convince it to come out from the eaves and off the roof. Jonah and I watched it slither off the roof, right in front of us and drop to the ground. Jonah found it very interesting. Josh didn't end up killing it- it eventually went off into the trees off our property. Hopefully that's the last we'll see of him.

Oh my goodness, I would have died! Josh is a very brave man. Brad wouldn't have done that; he's terrified of snakes! Good luck making it through the summer... :)
Just be glad there was a screen.
