I was talking to someon (who was that???) the other day about sewing and books and I remembered this excellent book. Please DON'T see the movie- I'm sure Wynona Rider is great, but the point of readin the book is that every other chapter is a lecture on the history of quilt making in America. It's actually quite fascinating and the story (I think, anyway) seems to be an illumination of that history, more than the history being an illumimnation of the story. In a way it reminds me of the way Rebecca Wells writes, but with American History in between, rather than personal histories.
My conclusion: Whitney Otto is a genius.
