Yum Yum!

Recently, Josh and I were driving back from Colorado (or were we driving to Nashville???) and we stopped in an IHOP for dinner and the waitress brought us yogurt for Jonah to eat while we waited. We'd fed him half a bowl before I realized that maybe he wasn't supposed to have dairy products until he was a year old.
Panic.
I called my sister, the nutritionist and nursing student- no answer.
I called my Mom and she sounded iffy.
Tara calls me back and all I heard was Renal Failure. What's a renal??

Well, the question has been answered, thanks to BabyCenter.com and their weekly e-mails.
According to the chart below, Jonah can have yogurt and cheese at the age of 8 months, which he is.
I'm shocked actually at the things Jonah can have. I thought he couldn't have meat until 1 year, but if I turn it into pate' he can eat it now. The same with eggs (minus the whites). Interesting. I'll have to post some pictures of Jonah eating his new foods soon. It's pretty funny to watch.

Age: 8 to 10 months
What to feed
• Breast milk or formula, PLUS
• Small amounts of soft pasteurized cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese (but no cows' milk until age 1)
• Iron-fortified cereals (rice, barley, wheat, oats, mixed cereals)
• Mashed fruits and vegetables (bananas, peaches, pears, avocados, cooked carrots, squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes)
Finger foods (lightly toasted bagels, cut up; small pieces of ripe banana; well-cooked spiral pasta; teething crackers; low-sugar O-shaped cereal)
• Small amounts of protein (egg yolk, pureed meats and poultry; tofu; well-cooked and mashed beans with soft skins like lentils, split peas, pintos, black beans)
• Non-citrus juice (apple or pear)

Things you may find in my house by the end of the summer

We close on our house on Thursday and I've been remodeling and redecorating the house in my head for a few weeks now... These are a few things Josh and I have been talking about for the new house.

Okay- this is close. Instead think of really big cans you get at the grocery, painted and hung instead of the milk jugs. I like the idea for my kitchen. I saw this idea on Danny Seo's blog and I was thinking about variations.

Maybe a few of these... they cut the grass, and maybe we'll get some milk?

Fun in the Sun

We got to have ashort trip to Nashville this week. We had to be back fast because Josh had a thing for orientation on Saturday, but we had some fun while we were here. I got to meet me new niece, Ava.

And we got to go swimming.

Overall a lot of fun. We've been trying to kill time while we wait for our house to close. One week from yesterday!! Yay!!!

We'll have to get some video of Jonah displaying his new skills- crawing, clapping, waving, eating solid foods, and getting up on his hands and toes- also driving RV's.

A little trip to CO

I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven’t been posting on my blog because we’re in Colorado. We’ve been having a good time visiting with Josh’s parents and seeing Mesa Verde. We also got to take a train ride from Durango CO to Silverton CO. It was a lot of fun- although the really high bridges did make me a bit nervous.

I’ll try to get back to posting my regular Friday posts asap... Sorry!
